4-DAY ITINERY FROM GERMANY TO ITALY

Day 1:

We booked Flixbus from Stuttgart to Rome. It was a 16-hour journey via Munich.

Day 2:

Reached Rome Tiburtina Bus stand at 9 AM. Freshened up and had some breakfast at a local cafe in the bus stop.

We checked into our hotel at Rome Termini and then set out to explore Rome.

  • We started with the Vatican museums. Since we already booked the guided tour at noon, there was no time wastage, even though it was super-crowded. Our guided tour started on time, and it was worth every penny.

Please refer to my blog (https://foodvoyage.travel.blog/2019/09/01/must-visit-places-in-italy/), for more info on how to book tickets for the Vatican.

After the tour ended, we had some pizzas at the Vatican cafeteria.

Next, we started our walking tour of Rome.

  • Start with Spanish steps – This is to date the traditional meeting point of the Romans. The metro lines are well connected and you can easily get down at “Spagna” using Metro line A.
  • Trevi Fountain – I felt it was huge compared to the pictures I have seen online. Also, super crowded. Flip a coin into the fountain, to guarantee your return to Rome.
  • Walk to the Pantheon. If the queue is not long, you can even enter.
  • Piazza Navona
  • Piazza Venezia

After this, we called it a day as we were super-tired.

Day 3:

Day trip from Rome to Positano:

Make sure to start as early as 6 am since the journey is long. I took a train from Rome to Salerno. From Salerno, we booked a ferry to Positano.
